How Hilo works

Receive your complete Hilo Core system, including the wearable band, app, and cuff, designed to work together to build a picture of your patterns over time. You’ll find everything you need included in the box.
Set up your Hilo Core system in minutes by connecting your band and cuff to the app via Bluetooth.
The app guides you step-by-step, so you’re up and running quickly.
Use the cuff during the first few days to establish your personal blood pressure reference within the system, helping anchor your long-term patterns.
Set in-app notifications to know exactly when and how to take these measurements.
Wear the band throughout your day to capture everyday context, like sleep, activity, and routine, helping you build a clearer picture of your patterns over time.
Designed for everyday life, the band is lightweight, water-resistant, and easy to wear.
FAQs
Hilo Core is a subscription-based wellness system designed to help you understand how your daily habits relate to your blood pressure patterns over time. The Hilo experience combines three connected components:
1. Hilo Band (wellness layer)
The Hilo Band is a wearable device that uses optical sensors on your wrist to collect physiological signals while you are still and at rest. These signals help build insight into longer-term blood pressure patterns and trends over time rather than isolated point-in-time measurements. The band is designed for everyday wear, including during sleep, and continuously collects data in the background to help you better understand how your routines, sleep, and daily habits relate to your patterns over time.
2. Hilo Cuff (reference measurement layer)
The Hilo Cuff is an FDA-cleared blood pressure monitor that provides exact reference blood pressure measurements using an upper-arm cuff. The cuff is used:
- During the calibration process
- Every 30 days to maintain an accurate baseline for the Hilo Band
- Anytime you want an on-the-spot, exact blood pressure measurement
Cuff measurements can also be saved, reviewed, and shared with your doctor through the Hilo App.
3. Hilo App
The Hilo App brings your information together in one place and helps you:
- Observe longer-term trends and patterns
- See how your patterns relate to sleep, activity, and daily routines
- View summaries and averages over time
- Access exact cuff measurements separately from band trend information
- Generate reports to download or share
Understanding the difference
The Hilo Band and Hilo Cuff work together, but they serve different purposes:
- The Hilo Band helps you understand longer-term patterns and changes over time
- The Hilo Cuff provides exact reference blood pressure measurements
- The app displays both clearly, while keeping wellness trends and cuff measurements separate.
Hilo Core is designed to help you understand how your blood pressure changes over time, rather than focusing on single measurements alone. The Hilo Band collects measurements periodically while you are still and at rest throughout the day and night. The Hilo App then combines these measurements into trends and averages that help provide a broader view of your blood pressure patterns over time.
This longer-term view can help you:
- Understand how your routines and habits may affect your blood pressure
- Observe changes over days and weeks
- Build a more complete picture than occasional single measurements alone
For exact reference measurements, you can use the Hilo Cuff at any time. These cuff measurements are displayed separately in the Hilo App and can be shared with your doctor.
The Hilo Band does not measure your blood pressure at fixed times.
Instead, it:
- Attempts readings multiple times throughout the day
- Prioritizes moments when you are still and at rest
- Adjusts based on your daily activity
The exact number of readings may vary from day to day. Your data is:
- Stored on the band and synced to the Hilo App
- Available as summarized trends
The app primarily highlights:
- Averages
- Patterns over time
- Daytime and nighttime trends
You can also explore all individual readings within the app if desired.
You can create a report directly in the Hilo App to review or share your data. To generate a report:
- Go to the Insights tab
- Scroll to Blood Pressure Report and tap Download
- Select your date range (weekly, monthly or 6-monthly)
- Tap Generate Report
Note: Reports are available after at least 7 days of data have been collected.
What the report includes:
- Blood pressure patterns and trends over time
- Separation of daytime (resting) and nighttime data
- Individual cuff-based reference measurements
- Heart rate averages
- Step averages
- Sleep averages
- Any notes you have added in the app, along with date and time
The report is designed to help you observe patterns and changes over time, rather than focus on single data points.
Sharing your report: You can:
- Save the report as a PDF
- Share your cuff-based measurements with your healthcare provider
Why long-term patterns matter
Understanding patterns over time can offer a different perspective than single measurements alone
See beyond single moments
A single reading doesn’t tell the full story. Patterns over time provide a more complete view.
Notice how your day shapes patterns
From morning to night, patterns can vary across your daily routine.
Reference measurements add perspective
Cuff-based reference measurements provide additional context alongside long-term blood pressure patterns.
Build a clearer picture over time
Weeks and months of data help bring consistency and perspective.
Make sense of what you see
Viewing patterns alongside your daily life helps you interpret them more meaningfully.
Connect patterns to daily life
Sleep, activity, and routine all provide context for understanding what you see.
